Fall Ball Rules

  • All games are played as double-headers.

  • Teams alternate home/away for the 2 games.

  • First game starts at 1pm, second game beginning no later than 3pm.  No new innings may begin after 1hr 45 of play (AAA and above), no new innings after 1hr 15 of play for coach pitch.

  • Game rules and bat rules per the little league rule book.

  • Teams are to use round robin batting so every player in attendance is in the batting order of the entire game.

  • Teams are to use free defensive substitutions.

  • Pitcher can pitch 6 consecutive outs per game (kid pitch-10U & majors-12U). Juniors/Seniors (15U) pitcher can pitch 9 consecutive outs per game. Pitchers can return to pitch in the second game.

  • Pitcher may return to the game as the catcher even if he/she has pitched 2 innings.

  • Current Little League International rules apply in all other scenarios, including bat use and safety equipment.

  • Always consult with the opposing coach to ensure that your teams are on the same page prior to starting the game.

N4 Rules for Coach Pitch

Inclement weather/field conditions: In the event of rain or other inclement weather, decisions will be made by the host fields regarding field conditions and whether games should be played. We strive to make these decisions by 11am but we all know that Michigan weather can change quickly so we try not to cancel games unless it's painfully clear that we won't be able to play. An email will be sent to all coaches in the event of cancellations. Facebook (Northern Little League Grand Rapids) will be updated as well.  Because we are at several locations, it is possible that some fields will be cancelled but others may not.

Due to the timeline for fall ball, we are unable to reschedule cancelled games but coaches are welcome to reach out to their scheduled opponent and set up a scrimmage at their convenience.
